There are many ways to compensate employees for the work they do. If you work in sales, where your performance can be measured, you probably earn a commission based on how much you sell. But if not, you most likely receive the typical perks, or benefits, which include such things as: health insurance, travel and meal allowance. For new or soon to be mothers, maternity leave and day care facilities are indispensable. As for overtime, many companies reward their workforce by letting them off early on a day when the workload is low and in that way they avoid the added cost that these extra hours would otherwise generate. Dinners, picnics, outings and excursions give the staff a chance to get to know each other better in a non working atmosphere and strengthen the team spirit. Although most workers enjoy themselves at these events there are others who prefer a strictly monetary reward.
