Dress Code
Most people agree that the clothes we wear make a statement about who we are. In the workplace, clothing has a direct effect on both the employee and the customer. For employees, adherence to a common set of guidelines establishes a sense of team spirit while for the customers; it symbolizes professionalism. While most companies have maintained dress codes over the years there now appears to be some flexibility. This is most apparent in the popularity of "dress down Friday" where on certain occasions employees are encouraged to dress more casually. Although there is considerable debate over the issue, it is widely agreed that many of the some principles used to justify the value of dress codes in companies can be applied to the schools. Student uniforms, aside from reducing significantly the family clothing budget, are considered fundamental in promoting a sense of pride and professionalism in the students' workplace.
