Reliability
If you think that today's products are less reliable than those of the past you are absolutely right. But what you may not know is that, in part, we are all to blame for this. We have created a consumer climate where having a car or a TV is no longer enough. Nowadays, when we make a purchase we expect to be able to choose from a wide selection of models, all of which must contain the latest technology available. By forcing manufacturers to provide us with an ever increasing number of new product choices, we don't give them time to do the proper quality controls to insure reliability. Some manufacturers, especially in the IT sector, have been accused of a practice called "forced obsolescence". This is when, after a period of time, a product can no longer be used and the consumer is forced to buy a new one.
