Indirect Questions

When changing from direct to indirect questions we change the subject-verb word order.

Direct

 

Indirect

What time is it? - Do you know what time it is?
Where is John? - I don't know where John is.
When is the meeting? - I've no idea when the meeting is.
How old is Susan? - Does anybody know how old Susan is?
Why was the boss late? - Nobody knows why the boss was late.
When did the show finish? - Do you know when the show finished?
Where will they have the reception? - I don't know where they will have the reception.
How much have the neighbours paid for the house? - Do you know how much the neighbours paid for the house?
How much does a coffee cost in this hotel? - Can you ask how much a coffee costs in this hotel?
How long will the meeting last? - Do you know how long the meeting will last?
How far is it from the office to the airport? - I don't know how far it is from the office to the airport.
How often do the children go to the park? - Do you know how often the children go to the park?
Where would the director prefer to have dinner? - I don't know where the director would prefer to have dinner.
