Expect - Hope - Wait - Wish - Look forward to

Expect means that you think something will happen.

I'm expecting an important phone call.

Look forward to means that you think something will happen and you feel happy about it.

I'm looking forward to Jaime's party.

Hope means that you want something to happen and you think there is a possibility.

I hope it doesn't rain.

Wish means that you want something to happen which is impossible or very unlikely.

I wish I were 20 years younger.

Wait means to stay without doing anything until someone or something comes or happens.

We waited 20 minutes for the bus.

Steal - Rob - Kidnap - Hijack

You steal things and you rob people or places.

I've been robbed! Someone stole my wallet!

Kidnap is to take someone away illegally and demand money for their safe return.

Hijack is to take control of, usually an aeroplane, for ransom or political reasons.

Tall - High

High is the opposite of low and is used for most things except people when we are considering the distance from the ground.

This mountain didn't look so high from down there in the valley.

Tall is the opposite of short and is used for people, ships and for things that are high and narrow. In this case we are thinking of the distance from the top to the bottom.

This is the tallest building in the city.

House - Home

A house is a type of building for people to live in.

Home is where you belong and feel comfortable.

Since we've put up the curtains the new house is starting to feel like home.

When speaking of movement towards home there's no preposition.

I'm tired. Let's go home.

When there is no movement use the preposition "at" or no preposition at all.

All the lights are off. It seems like there's nobody (at) home.

Pain - Hurt - Ache - Sore

All these words can refer to suffering or discomfort in a particular part of the body.

I was working in the garden yesterday and I have a pain in my back.

My back hurts. Perhaps I hurt my back.

My back is sore.

My back aches. I have an ache in my back.

With ache we can form several nouns: Backache, headache, toothache, stomach-ache

Heal - Cure - Treat - Recover

To heal means to become healthy again usually by growing new skin.

That cut has healed very well. You're lucky there's no scar.

To cure means to bring a person to health or to make a disease or illness go completely away.

Someday medical science will find a cure for cancer.

To treat is to try to cure by medical means.

The doctor is treating my mother for her heart condition.

To recover means to return to the proper state of health, strength, ability, etc.

He has had many injuries in his professional sports career but has always managed to recover.
