Dear Myprofe, hello everyone

I just want to introduce myself and ask a question.

My name is Peter - as you allready know... Very Happy I am fourty something years old and retired early because of health problems. Since January 07 I have a job to get some extra cash.

My question is related to my job. I translate differnt sorts of texts for a computer company and sometimes I just do not find the right expression in german though I have a clue what the word means. Could I ask you for help once I am "lost in translation" and at a loss of words or is this not allowed in this forum? I just wanted to ask before I post something wrong and have problems with you.

Have a good time.

Peter

Corrections and suggestions: My name is Peter - as you already know... I am forty something years old and retired early because of health problems. Since January 07 I have had a job to earn some extra cash.

Comment: Flo has already answered your question. The best place I know of to get help and get it almost instantaneously is at: www.wordreference.com.

Hello Everyone,

here is my first question: What is a Company Business Permission record in German? It must have something to do with what you call "Gewerbeschein" in German but I am not really sure as the text I have to translate is about business entities. Shock

Have a good time.

Comment: I have no idea how to say what you ask about in German but I have to say something about the way you end your posts.
The expression "Have a good time" is best used when you know that someone is going to do something or go somewhere. Otherwise you should say something like "Have a Nice Day".
Have a good time sounds strange because it implies that you know the immediate plans or the intentions of the person the message is addressed to.

Hello Peter,

Have you already finished your translation? If not...

My office dictionary defines "Gewerbeschein" as trade licence (British English) or trade license (American English).

Good luck with your work.

Gabi
